Salonshai

South Goddess – Salonshai (sah-lohn-shy) - the Priestess for the Aquarian Age, associated with fiery pillars and sacred prostitution. The Light-Bringer of the Southeast [Atamenoch] is Her Lord.  She is the fire lit from the bone, fire and blood. She is the Phoenix, the Eye, the peace of the Light-Bringer. Her manner is bright and forceful.

We've identified Her with the Biblical Salome, who demanded John the Baptist's head on a platter, and the dancer of the sensuous and scandalous Dance of the Seven Veils:

In his 1884 novel À rebours Frenchman Joris-Karl Huysmans describes the depiction of Salome in Moreau's painting:

"No longer was she merely the dancing-girl who extorts a cry of lust and concupiscence from an old man by the lascivious contortions of her body; who breaks the will, masters the mind of a King by the spectacle of her quivering bosoms, heaving belly and tossing thighs; she was now revealed in a sense as the symbolic incarnation of world-old Vice, the goddess of immortal Hysteria, the Curse of Beauty supreme above all other beauties by the cataleptic spasm that stirs her flesh and steels her muscles, - a monstrous Beast of the Apocalypse, indifferent, irresponsible, insensible, poisoning." (Source)

Of course, we don't see these traits as negatives the way Biblical religion does, but as the embodiment of the South; powerful, willful, lustful. Even the references to the Apocalypse apply, as Salonshai is the Priestess of the newly begun Aquarian Age, which necessitated doing away with the old, Piscean Age of the Kristos. The "irresponsible, insensible" description can easily refer to the unchecked power of Fire. And the "poisoning," to Her Lord, Atamenoch, who "poisoned" humans with Divine knowledge as long ago as the time of Biblical Genesis.

Additionally, Salome's mother is said to be named Herodias, which is an alternate name for the Goddess Diana in much of the writings on medieval Witchcraft. So, as the daughter of the widely named Witches' Goddess, Salome would indeed be an "old-world incarnation" and a Goddess in Her own right. This will be more relevant as this entry progresses.

In my research for this post, I discovered that there is another Biblical Salome. Sometimes called "Mary Salome," she was perhaps the mother of the disciples James and John, and/or a disciple herself, and/or possibly Jesus' aunt, being Mother Mary's sister or sister-in-law, and maybe also her midwife. In any case, she was said to be present at the crucifixion, and when the stone rolled away on the third day and it was discovered that the Christ had risen.

In the Gospel of Thomas there is a reference to Jesus sharing Salome's couch at the meal, and of Salome's esoteric questioning. 'Who are you sir,' she asks him, 'that you have taken your place on my couch and eaten from my table?' And Jesus says, "I am he who is from the One, and the things that belong to the Father have been given to me." Salome replies, "But I am your disciple", and Jesus answers, "When the disciple is united he will be filled with light, but if he is divided he will be filled with darkness." (Source)

Salonshai, in Sorgae 'Craft, replaced Magdala (who we identified with Mary Magdalene, another sacred prostitute, "one who stands in place of," a representative for Divine Feminine) as the Priestess of the Age. Magdala's Lord was not Atamenoch, but the now departed South God, whom we called by the title Tsaranos but was also the Kristos, or Jesus Christ. Magdala and Her Kristos left our contact as of Salanakh in 2000. It was after this that Salonshai began contact.

(To quote Bill Cosby, I told you that story to tell you this one.)

The idea that the Age was turning at this time, away from the Kristos and His religion, is relevant. His Priestess stepped aside and a new one, dedicated to a Lord, the Light-Bearer, who represents a spiritual view that existed long before the Kristos' religion took hold of the world, came into Her place. This is completely in keeping with everything Sorgae represents to us now. A return to Old Ways. Rediscovering those Ways and their relevance in our modern world. The need for that return. The insistance of the Sorgae Gods that we spread this knowledge as far and wide as possible.

Salonshai may have indeed demanded the head of John the Baptist, as every God requires bloodshed in His role as Sacred King, which the Kristos unquestionably is one. She may have been the Kristos' blood kin and His disciple, and witnessed the ultimate sacrifice that brought in His Age. And then She may have watched how His Light was dimmed over centuries of mis- and reinterpretation, understanding too that every Sacred King must one day be finally replaced. And She saw all this happen to Her Lord as well. And perhaps She means to change that.

And so the Age has turned again. It may well have been our Tsaranos Kristos and His Priestess Magdala who entrusted the new one to Salonshai, as She understands not only His message, but as Herodias' daughter, the Old Ways as well. So She is able to unite all disciples, and fill us with the Light borne by Her sadly maligned, but most beloved Lord.

This is FANTASTIC! Your research is, as always, remarkable. Your explanation of Salonshai is very close to the explanations She Herself has given us. I feel you have expressed well the connection I felt to Magdala and Her Kristos, and the one I know feel toward Salonshai. I ain't the 'twistedphoenix' for nothin'! *grin*

Thank you, Lady.

I've edited the post a little to include some more relevant information, just before I talk about the second Salome.
