With the help of my Coven, I've developed a way to perform a Sorgae ritual using Tarot cards. Eventually this will also be available on our Coven website, but for now, I'll post it here.
Sorgae Tarot Ritual
You will need two full Tarot decks for this.
Prep: Perform any preparations you deem necessary to get into a ritual mindset. Candles, incense, and music can aid in setting the appropriate mood but are optional.
A. First Deck - Set-up
1. Aces for Cardinal Directions
Lay the Aces out in a wide ring; Swords in the East, Wands in the South, Cups in the West, and Pentacles in the North.
2. Appropriate Courts for Cross-Quarters (place as a cross or an X)
- NE: Knight of Pentacles, Page of Swords (Page on top)
- SE: King of Swords, Knight of Wands (Knight on top)
- SW: Queen of Wands, King of Cups (King on top)
- NW: Page of Cups, of Queen Pentacles (Queen on top)
3. Appropriate Majors for Deities
Place the cards for High God and High Goddess below the North card. with a gap between them. Place other Deity cards in their appropriate directions.
- High God: Wheel of Fortune (right of center)
- High Goddess: The World (left of center)
- Secondary Deities: See this chart for the Deities to call, and this one for Their corresponding cards.
3. Appropriate Ritual card
Place the appropriate card between the High God and High Goddess cards. If the card listed is already in use as a Deity card, simply move it into this position.
a. Sabeot/ds (for 2013-14 c.e.)
- B/Pelatin: Knight of Pentacles
- Ardunakh: The Devil
- Lamasu: Page of Cups
- Vestraven: Six of Wands
- Soven: Seven of Pentacles
- Salanakh: Queen of Cups
- Vol'ka: The Sun
- Ostraven: Temperance
b. Use Temperance for Esbat rituals
B. Second Deck - Rites and work
1. Shuffle and lay cards in the center, below your Deity and Ritual cards:
- Where I am at this moment
- Message from the Gods*
- My next step
*You may lay several cards here, for all Gods called.
2. Perform any other divination/meditation/work as desired.
C. Closing
1. With intent, turn cards face down, dismissing and thanking Gods and Elemental spirits. Bid them depart until called again.
2. Gather up your cards, being careful not to mix the decks together. Perform any grounding and centering you deem necessary.
