Hekate, Hermes

Northwest Goddess – Hekate (heh-KAH-tay) –She deals with the mechanics of magick and spellwork. Hers is the physical craft of the Art Magickal.  She is far older than and became the Celtic/Greco Hecate.

This Goddess is sometimes thought of as a Queen of the Witches because of Her associations with Magick. She is also associated with Crossroads and hounds.

Hermes is the new South God. Not much at all is known about His relationship and function in Sorgae yet, as His inclusion in the pantheon has just begun. So In an effort to gain insight, I turned to Astrology, researching the planet Mercury (Hermes' Roman name), the Zodiac sign of Aquarius (since this is the Aquarian Age), and what Mercury in Aquarius means.

In Greek mythology, Mercury as Hermes, messenger of the gods, has one foot in the physical world and another in the realm of the unseen. Likewise, your Mercury crosses mental boundaries into the mysteries of the imagination and the memories of the past. In the fertile landscape of the mind, your Mercury harvests and interprets your personal experience of life. (Source)

This indicates to me that Hermes will bring us more messages and insight than the other Gods have thus far (which is saying something). He'll bridge the gap between this realm and those of the Gods in a more concrete way. He'll open us to more experiences and ways of communion and communication.

The Sun in Aquarius has been called the “rebel” of the zodiac because of their total commitment to their unique vision. They’re uncompromisingly anchored in their own lives, and grant that same autonomy to others. This can make them seem detached and friendly at the same time, with an innate sense that everyone should "do their own thing." (Source)

The Aquarian Age will be filled with new ideas, new advances, and a tolerance and acceptance that hasn't been seen before.

Theirs is a mind enamored with processes and systems, and many are drawn to science and technology. There's an element of mystery in how they arrive at conclusions. Often, they lay out facts, but as explorers of far-out mental realms, what they present resembles nothing currently in existence. Some are drawn to metaphysics, or venture into the arts. These are original thinkers with minds that are capable of doing genius things. Mercury in Aquarius follows their own inspirations to the outer limit and beyond." (Source)

It seems that Hermes in the Aquarian Age is a perfect fit. His very nature aligns with the Age's purpose and goals, so no other is better suited to open our minds and souls to the knowledge the multiverse has to offer.

Great post, as always! And OF COURSE your research bears out the associations of Hermes with Mercury and Aquarius *GRIN!*

Thank you, Lady.

Meaning, of course I'd find the connection because it was there waiting to be found, as so many others things have been?

Of course! *grin*

Another wonderful post, beautiful girl.

I don't have much to say about Hekate. That was fairly straightforward, but I would be interested to get to know Her better.

I think what you've found about Hermes is really accurate. I have this feeling that He's going to be someone you personally will receive a lot of messages from.

Being in the Northwest, She's one of "my" Goddesses. Hermes is only in the sense that all Sorgae Witches are South. It's nice to think I might have something that profound to contribute though.

Great post! I really leaned a lot about Hermes. I think you're right about Him bringing new messages, hopefully to the entire world.

I can't help thinking about His bridging gaps between realms, and what that could mean in terms of Familiars.
